Removals in Newton Abbot

Our depot is at Dainton Cross on Marldon Road, near Ipplepen, so these are roads we drive every working week

Newton Abbot is home for us. From Dainton Cross we're about five minutes from most Newton Abbot postcodes, so there's no call-out charge to cover fuel from another city and early starts are easy. We move people within the town, out to the villages around it, and to and from the rest of Devon and the UK.

Town centre and older streets

Victorian and Edwardian terraces around Wolborough Street and the roads off East Street mean narrow hallways, steep stairs and no off-street parking. Flats above shops on Courtenay Street and Bank Street usually have shared stairwells and no lift. Most town-centre routes, including Courtenay Street, Bank Street and Queen Street, are double yellow lines, so you may need a temporary parking suspension from Teignbridge District Council. It takes a few days' notice, and we'll flag it at the survey so it's sorted well before moving day.

Estates and villages

Interwar and post-war semis in Highweek and Buckland are usually the most straightforward homes to work with. Newer areas like Wolborough Green and Hele are built for wider roads, though road humps and tight corners can still catch a larger vehicle, so we note them at the survey. We also cover Kingsteignton, Milber, Abbotskerswell, Ogwell, Denbury, Ideford and Ipplepen, where narrow lanes take some local knowledge.

Timing matters here. The Penn Inn roundabout backs up between about 7.30 and 9am and again from 4 to 6pm, so we start most Newton Abbot jobs at 8am to be loaded and moving before it builds. Wednesday is market day and the town centre is noticeably busier, so if your completion date is flexible, Thursday or Friday is often easier. Near the station we plan around the Station Road level crossing, and we skip the Kingsteignton Road and Greenhill Road short-cut that sat-navs suggest, because it isn't suitable for a Luton van.

A move from one end of Newton Abbot to the other still takes proper planning. The drive might be ten minutes, but loading and unloading a three-bedroom house in Highweek takes the same time wherever it's going. We'll survey in person or by a short video call and give you a fixed price with nothing hidden.
